Testimonials

It was pitched really well in terms of what prior knowledge one would need. I learned loads but wasn’t overloaded. It feels like I’ve gone from, “People keep saying I should get a website but I have no idea where to start” to, “I know where to start and what to do and it’s no longer a scary prospect”.

– EC Hallewell, webinar attendee

Who am I?

Hi, I’m Beth.

E.M. Faulds Scottish Science Fiction Author

I’ve been a writer since I was six years old, and a web designer for over twenty years! My own web design company, jellydigio, has been quietly running for over ten years, working for a spectrum of clients, from small local businesses, to national organisations. Before that I worked for corporate clients. So, I’ve been doing this a while.

I build websites. If you have ever thought you might need one, I’m here for you.

I’m also a British Fantasy Award winning writer, and editor of two anthologies and love to help people get the best out of a story, while respecting what it wants to be.

Websites, really?

I’ve noticed a lot of writers struggle with this side of the business. They are often expected to run a website for themselves without extra help, even if they are with a giant publishing house! And what about Indy / self-published authors?

Why do we even need author websites?

“You can just post on X / Instagram / Facebook / Substack, right?”

Since recent news and events have made some social media and promotional platforms feel, um… unstable, it seems more important than ever to have your own author website. It’s your brand, it’s your voice, and it’s yours to control. You can decide if you want to offer your work for sale without being gouged by a sales platform, or make your own statements without fear of censorship. You have freedom of association and if you don’t like what your web hosting company is doing, you can pick up and leave, taking your content with you.

“But it’s not that easy!”

I understand. Sometimes it seems like web companies assume you know everything, and that can be hard if you haven’t had the background or experience. Approaching a web design company can be intimidating, especially if it’s not your thing. They can use jargon or expect you to spend thousands as if you were a big company, then leave you to struggle on alone.

None of this is much fun.

So, I decided to start up bibliotta! to create a space for the website resources and other services for writers who need help.

So, what can I help you with today?

If you’re not a writer but still want a website, see my other site, jellydigio and contact me there.
