Description

You don’t need your website to do too much. You’re a writer, you need it to work for you.

Our basic website package deal includes the following:

A WordPress website with a choice of clean, easy-to-use premade theme. (See the product gallery for look at themes).

The following pages will be set up for you, and you will be able to edit them afterwards as you please:

• A home page – where website visitors would usually start.
• A page to share your biography – an “About me” page. Put your headshots and so on here!
• A page to showcase your books (or list other publications)*.
• A page for news (blog)
• A contact page.

In addition, the following will be set up to help your website work:

• A contact form which can send website contacts directly to any email you specify.
• The blog system that goes on news page where you can share interesting thoughts and announcements, like if you’ll be attending a convention, or having a book launch or share photos etc.
• A user account which you can log in to edit pages or add photos etc.
• Basic site security system to protect you from hackers as much as possible.
• A complimentary seat on the “Getting Started with WordPress” webinar, with a coupon that can be redeemed up to one year from purchase.
• Five free “Stupid Questions” after everything is set up!

If you have a pre-existing logo, I can upload that to use on your site, as well. I will not create one for you in this package, however.

Accessibility

If you have difficulty with websites e.g. for reasons of disability, I may also include load of content, to a reasonable extent. For use of blogs, we can setup an “email to blog” system if that is easiest. I am willing to discuss accessibility accommodations further with you, just contact me.

Hosting, domain names options

Hosting and domain names are required for a website to work. Here is a breakdown of what the product options mean:

• NO HOSTING OR DOMAINS: you don’t need me to organise these for you but you need help with what to do with them. You will be happy for me to access these accounts to help you set up.
• Hosting only: You have a domain (i.e. the website address that looks like yourname.com), but you have no hosting, (i.e. a server for your files)
• Domain only: For some reason you have a hosting server available to you already but not a domain name!
• Hosting & Domain: You need both the dot com and the server space. I expect this to be the most often needed option.

If you already have your own hosting and domain name, and wish to keep using these, choose “NO HOSTING OR DOMAIN” in the options.

Otherwise choose what you need. I offer both domain registration and hosting services.**

*Important: This is not an ecommerce or shop option, merely a “portfolio” style display. For a full shop with e-book download and physical book shipping capabilities, see other products.

**I used shared hosting on IONOS, which I can control. I will register the domain name in your name and make the initial payment for its setup. You will retain ownership and control over it, and are responsible for all renewals and liability for its use after that.

Terms

This is a collaborative process, and I will help you along the way.

After purchase, you will receive contact from me and I will send you the options and forms you will need to fill in for the website’s initial setup. Once you have returned this, I will be able to do my setup for you.

Initial contact will be via email so ensure your email address in purchase is correct. A contractual agreement may be required, however if this is not signed within one month, you may receive a refund at my discretion.
